Super comps come with a Y pipe. I am nto sure if it will work, the super comps might have a 3" coll. What kind of shorty are you looking at? And besides I would get rid of the stock Y pipe anyway. Too restrictive.

I have this problem coming up. Which Y-pipe do you recommend with the shorty Hookers?

Andy.

Although it's already been stated, let's get this straight (in case someone actually does a search and reads this thread).

The "cheap" Hooker shorties, called "Comps", p/n 2460 (HOK-2460 on www.summitracing.com), which sell for $141.95 from Summit, will NOT bolt the to stock y-pipe; what's more, Hooker doesn't make a y-pipe for them, and neither does anyone else (in fact, nobody makes a header that bolts to any factory y-pipe). So, if you want to install these headers, you will have to have a custom y-pipe fabricated. The advantage of these headers is that they have a nice, open collector design.

The more expensive Hooker shorties, called "Super Comps", p/n 2055 (HOK-2055, $349.95 at Summit), are emissions-legal parts designed for '86-'91 single-cat TPI systems. However, they will bolt to any SBC/'82-'92 chassis combo. The cat and cat-back will also need to be changed and/or modifed to complete the installation (unless you have an '86-'91 single cat TPI car). In fact, the best bet would be to put in the headers, cat, and cat-back for the '86-'91 single cat application - yes, it will all fit regardless of engine (as long as it's SBC, unless you have some exotic heads with modified exhaust port locations), year, or original configuration.
