How Big Is A Stock Y-Pipe?

What is the diameter of a stock y-pipe on a 91 Z28 with a 350?

Thanks

Paul

I don't know about on a 91, but my 88 had a 3" on it. It narrowed down to the 2.5" before the Cat though.

It should be 2 1/2" pipes to a 3" cat.

Or....it will be 2 1/2 into each cat. That is of course if you have dual cats.

I'd believe "...2-1/4" into each cat...".

I know for sure the N10 dual cat is 2 1/4 piping with dual 2 1/4 cats.

The other day while working on my Z I measured the intermediate pipe and it measures 2 3/4" not 3" as I thought. This is on a dual cat car. Considering the total area of the two 2 1/4" cat pipes vs the total area of the after cat intermediate 2 3/4" pipe looks like the good folks at GM built a more restrictive exhaust than I realized. Definitely time for an upgrade.

Yeah, I just hacked up my stock exhaust and measured it. It was 2 3/4 on a 87 L98 car.
