Mark A Shields....important Hooker question?
Hey man,
I was reading one of your other posts and didn't you say that a new passenger side hanger has to be bought in order for the hooker exhaust system to work? We just bought the 260 dollar system for a single cat 87 TA and if possible could you tell me wha I'll need to get to make it work?
Thanks alot,
Donnie

Well, the exhaust shop said they had to weld a hanger on the pass side, for the tail pipe. But I just looked not too long ago and I see no hanger. I have no problems though since last Aug.
You should be set to go.

Mark,
Hey man, I just read one of your other posts again. You asked how well an XE268 worked....I have one in my 350 and it pulls really hard basically right out of the hole. I have my idle set down around 650 for a really lopey idle and it sounds awesome!
Any other questions just ask...
Later,
Donnie
P.S. Is it required to weld the tips on to the tailpipes or is it possible to just clamp them on?

Be sure to coat the tips with wax before you put them on. And be sure to clean them and wax once a week so they won't rust too bad. They are chrome so they are prone to it.
Also, I would suggest welding the tips, though it does help to be able to take them off to clean them. To not weld them, they could come loose and fall off. Maybe in the wrong moment and you won't be able to get them back.
Did you change your springs when you did the cam.?

Mark,
No, we didn't change the springs when we did the cam but it's not on a 3rd gen motor. It's a 350 out of a 78 camaro.
I got the exhaust all put on last night and it took about 2 and a half hours. I'm only 16 and it wasn't very tough at all. The car sounds about 300 times better when it's revved up but at idle it's barley louder. Needless to say, it's AWESOME!
Thanks again,
Donnie
