HEADERS WORK, but should they smoke?

Car started right up no problems. After a minute or two of running the headers started to smoke. They are ceramic coated Flowtechs. Is this normal for header break in.

Maybe you spilled something on them? Or got something on them and its burning it off. Headers get reallllllllllllllllllllllllllllly hot.

Yea I think it is grease/WD40 sweat, blood, etc.

Nothing is burning just some white steam sorta off the pipes themelves. No wires touching.

It is normal for headers to smoke after they have been installed. They are just burning off all the oil and grease you may have gotten on them.

Did your Y-pipe come painted black? That burns off like right away and creates a bunch of smoke.

Yea the y-pipe was kinda painted black, A little paint here and a little pait there. Pretty cruddy job if you ask me. I am not impressed with the quality of these headers at all.

I just put mine on today, and they smoked for a good 10 minutes. But most of the smoke was coming from the header wraps I believe. I would have to say that it is quite normal, and I'm pretty sure it actually says they will in the instructions.

I had mine Jet-Hot coated and they did the same thing. After a few minutes of driving, once they got up to temperature, the headers had smoke coming off of them. Scared me to death, but remember that anything that is not supposed to be on there that got on there in shipping/install is going to get hot and burn/smoke. Quite normal and once they finish getting everything off, they won't do it again. Have fun.
