Dynomax Super Turbo
I am going to buy a Dynomax Super Turbo Muffler for my
1986 Firebird 2.8L.
- I Want to keep the stock piping before the muffler.
- I am going single out
2.25" inlet, 2.25" outlet.
The muffler I am looking at is not exactly the same length as the stock one but I can Fab my own bracket for the tail pipe to Weld to right?
Tips, Whut size of tips should I get? I want a deep sound.
I am thinking 3" tips but I want it long so I can make it extend even to the back bumper. Good Idea? I am thinking 10-12" long tips.
Thanks in Advance.

The hanger should be no problem. As for the tailpipes, I take it you're going to split it after the single outlet muffler? Also, Hooker offers 2.25" in/ 3" out - 11" long tips. I have similar ones on my car, think they look/sound good, IMO. Good Luck,
Brian

I put my superturbo on over a yr ago. It was single inlet dual outlet. I bought Trans-am tailpipes, I believe they are 2 1/2 inch.
cut them off about 14 inches back and added 18 x 3 magna flow stainless tips. Looks good and gets the sound out behind the car.
Paid $60 for the muffler and $40 for the tips. I think the tail pipes were about $30.
The muffler is NOT LOUD. w/o the cat it sounds much better but still NOT LOUD.

JUST A NOTE. KEEP THE RECEIPT ON THE SUPER TURBO AS IT IS WARRANTIED. WHEN IT RUSTS OUT IN 3-4 YEARS, THEY WILL REPLACE THE MUFFLER FOR FREE. MY SHOP TOLD ME THE MAIL ORDER PLACE SHOULD HAVE DONE SO ALSO. THE SHOP GETS THEIR MONEY FROM THE MANFACTURER BY SENDING IN THE COPY OF THE ORIGINAL RECEIPT. THEY DO NOT COVER THE PIPES, SO THE SHOP MAKES SOME BUCKS THERE. I HAVE GOT 2 NEW MUFFLERS SO FAR (ONE ON EACH CAR).
