True Dual Vs. Cat Back

What is the difference between a true dual exhaust and a cat back system?

Thanks

true dual is like is sounds. True dual exhaust. One pipe for each header.

Stock for our cars is a y pipe which means that both the drivers and passenders side exhaust meet at a y before the catalytic converter and have a single pipe to the muffler.

A cat back is a general term for a aftermarket exhaust from the catalytic converter back. This doesn't include the cat.

Some people run true duals on our generation camaros/firebirds but its a lot of work. I heard the power gain to $$ ratio isn't worth it by some people. The pipes are usually lower to the ground and scrape frequently.

Yeah, that hangs pretty low. How many times to the scrape?

Looks mean as anything, but I couldn't imagine running anything like that. I tossed around the idea of running true duals that ran side by side down the stock exhaust path. Decided that it was too much trouble and just got an aftermarket single cat-back, without the cat of course .

I wanted duals

But in the end I got a good cat back and 3" y pipe to go with my long tube headers. If I could have found some one willing to do it I would have gone duals
