Side pipes on a Thirdgen?

Is it possible to fabricate and install side pipes for a third gen. I really want a mostly straight dual exhaust set up, but the stock pipe routing and ground clearance might pose a problem. So i thought what about side pipes, i would need the two lengths of exhaust tubing, larger tubing with a gizillion holes in it to go on the outside of it, a tube to patch it from my headers, and a way to get a muffler on each end. You guys are brilliant, whats your input?

You should do a search on this topic, it's been discussed many many times.

i did do a search and the results were almost all negative feedback, and those that werent were mostly pictures. i really want STRAIGHT TRUE DUAL/ TRUE QUAD exhaust and looking at search for that showed that it doesnt work well unless: you want little ground clearance, $$$$, and reduced flow compared to most exhausts for the stock routing. Im planning to make a real mother of a motor, and i need a bad a$$ exhaust to boot. i was thinking dual 3/3.5/4, or custom headers and quad 1.5/2's. I hafta do some math, darn calculus, about what would flow the best and have the closest to ideal lengths and material values. Would custom true quad set up up with custom headers possibly alleviate the BB Header isuues?

If you want to run "TRUE DUALS" all the way back, then you'll want to go NO BIGGER THAN 2 1/4 is pipes. There's no reason to go any bigger, plus it you do:

1) You'll lose a lot of low end torque as theres no much back pressure

2) You'll have the worlds worst ground clearence unless you make a 4x4 out of your bird.

Later,
Mike

Not nessacary, im handy with a welder.
Im going full. near full race with my camaro, and i can due the math to predict what would be best and prove it on the dyno later. It needs to breath a lot, and the calculations for the anti reversion pipe have begun and that will alleviate most low and mid range tourque issues while barely touching high end power. Also stoking to 383 will give me a slight advantage over most in tourqe. Thanx any way, dont want to stir up any trouble.
