pipe fittings leak...please help!!!
I took off my smog pump today and a few members said to use 1/4" pipe fittings to plug the holes on the manifolds, but I'm getting a bad leak from them now, should I just torque real hard or should I have put something on them first to prevent leaking or what???? PLease help.

Did you use pipe fittings, or flare fittings?
Pipe fittings will leak for 2 reasons. One, they don't seat on the 45* seat in the manifold. Second reason is 1/4" pipe fittings and 1/4" flare fittings are totally different sizes.
So there ya go,

Smog pump good.
Goof ***** that dis-able emisions equipment bad.
With high performance catalytic converters available, and the negligable amount of power required to operat the A.I.R. pump, why would anybody decline to use it ?
I suppose if you like the smell of unburned gasoline so much, you could plumb the exhaust directly into the passenger compartment.
As for myself, I prefer clean air.
But, that is just my opinion, and I could be wrong

I just had to torque them in some more and the leaks stopped. The engine bay looks a lot better without the pump, and I think I got close to fifty pounds off the front of my car. And Jeff, If you think the air that comes out of an AIR equppied car is clean, then why don't you just start your car up in a closed garage and see just how clean it is?:lala:
just kidding,
just kidding,
