SLP Headers

Question for all you Header experts. Last week I called Summit Racing.com and ordered their SLP-30003 (SLP) headers for my
1987 5.7L Trans Am. I told the guy I wanted SLP because I heard they were the best. I asked him if Summit was the manufacture of SLP and he said he wasen't sure because they have aguired other companies and have combined their inventory. So he sends me a set of Edelbrock 6872, why would he do this or is SLP also Edelbrock? The other weird thing about the headers they sent has a cold start stove pipe that is open. What do I do with this and how would I adapt my stock air pipes to this opening?

Vance

Edelbrock and SLP are two different companies. He screwed up and sent you the wrong headers.Your car has no use for the stove pipe, that is a carbeureted or TBI emissions choke aid.Send them back and get the SLP's you ordered.

I think it's time to get on the phone. You didn't get anything close to what you ordered.

On-line, they don't even show SLP. Sounds like he substituted what he thought was something that would work.

Send 'em back.

For some reason they have them listed under the Summit brand. I got my SLP stuff from them.

3003's are Summit part number SUM-SLP30003

Slip-fit 3" catalytic converter adapter is P/N SUM-SLP30038

Header installation kit is P/N SUM-SLP30018

double-check to make sure those are the correct parts for your application.

SLP (Street Legal Performance) makes SLP headers: http://www.slponline.com/

Send those Edelcrocks back for sure, you dont want them. Summit screwed up and should have to pay for shipping, too.

Why buy SLP from summit when you can buy them from SLP???? No extra markups (Unless either SLP recently raised prices or Summit recently dropped prices) I have the whole SLP setup, it's awesome, the sound is great. 1 3/4 Headers and the 3" catback...now I just need a good cat....

Summit has them for about $20 less, and they don't charge anywhere near the $40 for shipping that SLP does. The money saved can go toward things like a $20 modified spark plug socket that SLP nearly forces you to buy.
