Why Does My Heat Flange make noise?
The heat flange or whatever it's called on my headers, rattles like hell and it's annoying. Why does it do that, it can't be made to make that horrible clanking noise. I've put a coat hanger on there to stop it, helped for a while, but came loose. Maybe I'll readjust it. I know it's rigged, but what am I supposed to do, and can I stop it.

Mark, I'm going out on a limb here; Are you talking about the flapper valve, probably in the passenger side collector? Do Edelbrock TES have this? If so, I'm guessing that it's vacuum controlled as is common on the OEM manifolds. Just thinking, you just installed a bigger cam, as I see in your sig. Did your cam cause such a drop in vacuum that the valve no longer positively closes, instead rocking back and forth and making the annoying rattle? I don't think I've heard of this problem before, so I'm just throwing out ideas. If you aren't concerned about it working, could you tack weld the lever in the open position? Hope I understood the question correctly, If not, I probably look like a dumb@$$ - Oh, well, not the first time.

You make perfect sense, it's on the pass side. There is a little lever on the outside that if I move it makes that same noise. I can't weld it right now, but I'll try to readjust the coat hanger. How about JBWeld?

JB Weld? It's great for some purposes, although I haven't had much success with it on exhaust - maybe I was asking too much of it. Give it a shot, it might work. If not, you're not losing much and you won't be any worse off.
