Hedman Hedders or Hooker Headers

I want some headers but I don't know from who...pn: 500-68460 are long tube headers from Hedman and they say they dont clean the stock floorpan, or should I get pn 500-68470 Hedman shorties or....pn 520-2460 from Hooker and they are full length....all pn's are from Jegs...please help....AARON

You need to answer one question first: Emissions?

Assuming the answer is "yes", you're on the wrong track. You need shorties with A.I.R. fittings (for visual, at least, not necessarily for the sniffer). That's 500-68481, which include the y-pipe to the cat.

Also, the 520-2460 are shorties, not long-tube, and no y-pipe is available for them. You'll have to get something fabricated, they don't have A.I.R. fittings (although they do have the O2 bung). They can be special ordered with the A.I.R. fittings, but by the time you get them and the y-pipe fabricated, you could have gotten 520-2055, which are Hooker's emissions-legal version.

If emissions aren't a concern, your options are more open. Long-tubes will require some sort of custom-piping, or a Mufflex y-pipe (of which I've heard, but never seen).

what do you mean by that?? air as in a/c?(air conditioning)..if you have a/c you need the right headers for the car...ie if you have a/c you need the headers "bent" for the cars with a/c and the same goes if you dont..get the ones "bent" for the cars that dont..

as for the job...do what you gotta do to get money for your ride..

noone really cares what you do as long as your ride looks sweet

What I mean is I hear everyone talk about the A.I.R., I am assuming that this deals with the smog regulations, I don't care if I dont have the smog pump or whatever, I just want headers and yes I will be running with an Air Condition in the car, man I live in Brownsville Texas, do you know how hot it was today?!?!?! about 101 F*!!! I think I am just gonna get the Hedman shorties without the Y-Pipe, I don't care, anything but those stupid stock manifolds, they are all blocky and restricting air from gettin out....AARON

A.I.R. is for emissions, true. During open loop operation, before the engine warms up, the "smog pump" pumps additional air into the exhaust ports to aid in burning any left-over fuel from the combustion process. When the engine has warmed up, the additional air is routed to the cat to aid its operation.

What do you have planned for the rest of the exhaust? The Hedman y-pipe would be cheaper than getting one made, and would connect to the cat with no problems (assuming you have TPI).

Now lets says I wanted to get the Hedman Long Tubes pn 500-68460....would I need a Y pipe and how hard would the install be and the ground clearance.....I plan to get the 2.5 pipe from the cat back to a 1in 2 out Borla Muffler with Borla Tips...and Intake wise I am in the process of designing a Ram Air set up like the LT1's and the Ls1's have for my GTA since I have since cut the latch that goes to the hood to close it and cut a square to get direct ait coming from the loovers, and yes I got hood pins to hold the hood down....AARON

if you plan on getting long tubes...also plan on not lowering you car...chevy designed our undercar chassis really poorly, the y pipe has to go under the frame of the car and as a result comes about 2 inches from the ground(or so im told from my exaust shop) and when or if you order hooker(the full set) make sure you get everything...mine has been in the shop for 4 days now because they have been modding stuff to fix and ordering in special pieces for my exaust...man i hope its worth the wait
