How difficult is it to install a Dynomax catback?

Can I do this myself with hand tools or do I need it to be welded?

Thanks

If you use clamps you can put it on with regular tools, but if you have access to a welder that would be the better way to do it. It won't leak if it's welded, but if the clamps are done right they won't leak either.

Just make sure you have the car VERY high in the air if you aren't able to use a lift.

If you look at the pic below you'll see that the I-pipe is one piece.
I got my car a high as I could on a flat concrete floor and I still had to remove the track bar on the pass side to get it through.

It's a PITA, but it's one piece. That's one less joint you have to worry about.

I had a hard time with that 1 piece pipe to. Now I'm installing a Dynomax 3" and the I pipe is in 2 parts.

Yea. I was about to call it a night when I was installing mine. The next morning I was gonna cut the bastard, then take it to the exhaust shop and have them flare one end to make it a slip on. I was frustrated as hell.

But now I'm glad I didn't cut it. Ain't nothing a dead blow can't handle .

Alright cool, thanks guys.

Do I need to get it welded to the cat or does that have a clamp too. How high will I need to get it in the air? Will 16" jack stands be enough? I'm guessing it's best to put the rear on jack stands and not ramps.

It's got the flange and the plate to attach it to the cat.

Should be. It's hard to say how high exactly, but pretty damn high.

Correct. You need to let the rear drop as far as possible. You may just be able to remove the lower bolt on the rear shocks to get the rear to drop enough. I couldn't. I had to also remove the brace for the panhard rod.
