Straight pipe VS free flow cat

Do you think there would be any performance gains when switching from a straight test pipe to a high glow cat?

Gains from a regular pipe to a high flow converter?? The converter won't flow as good as a pipe even if it is high flow.

the gains will be negligent i wouldnt do it , high flow cats are bettter( sounds bettter, pass emissions)

Well, sound is an issue of personal taste. As far as emissions go, I'm running 2 cats with pipes through both. Passed 3 years in row so far with no problems.

I am not running a cat (free flow pipe), edelbrock headers and a custom 3" exhaust system w/ flowmaster 80 series and I don't think it sounds bad....pass emissions, maybe not but I am in Michigan.

I would just stick with the hi flo one, unless it needs replacing you're not going to notice much of a butt dyno difference.

Well, right now I have the stock one (100,000mi.) I was just wondering if there was much of a difference between the two, hp wise. I don't have any emmissions testing, but if it's pretty loud I may get a visual inspection by the cops. The made-to-fit test pipes aren't much cheaper than many of the free-flow cats.

i would just go with a high flow cat then. That way its legal so ur not worried about getting hassled.

No i do not have emission testing in my area either. I didn't know there was another Michigander on this site. You need to come over to www.camaroz28.com/messagebd and go to the Michigan board. So many people there, gatherings, races, lots of fun stuff. I am in the car club out of detroit Motown Muscle. test pipe/off road pipe/ cat delete pipe, its all the same, I went to napa, got a 2 1/2 inch pipe, cut the cat off, kept the 'butt plate' welded the pipe to the butt plate, 12 bucks

wont the local shops give you a hassle if your in a strick emissions zone??? which i am in one.... plus i got the A.I.R. so i need the air tube also that would go into it, and i dont feel like spending 75$ on the mac offroad pipe..
