need help fast-cat size for my car . . .

whats up guys-I'm planning on buying a carsound cat next week but i'm unsure of what size cat i'll need-i'm pretty sure that my car has 2.5 piping, its a 305 v8 - tpi, and the eigth # on the vin. is F (i heard it helps )
i was thinking that since its 2.5 piping won't i need a 2 3/4 cat to fit over it???
thanks in advance!!!

The single-cat 305 TPI's from 91-92 had a 2 1/4" converter. Catco's model 9401 or 9402 (depending on where left or right is) is a direct-fit. They are 22" long converters. I don't have time to look up Carsound models, but they should have something to fit.

I would just get some shorty headers with an aftermarket y-pipe and then change the cat to a 3" hi-flow with a cat-back system. I least that's what I am doing in the next few weeks.
