Catco is acting up?

I just welded up a new hooker catback and catco 3" cat to the stock LG4 y-pipe, and ever since i've been gettin a weird smell, kinda like rotton eggs. the cat is the 51.00 one from summit with the air tube, but i just left that capped because I have no AIR. Any idea what could be stinking up my ride?

Most do that when first installed, mine did. That's the cat working. It convertst the bad gases to sulfur dioxide or something, that rotten egg smell. Mine went away after a little while.

oh, well as long as it goes away, thats fine. I suppose the old cat wasn't working, since it was full of rust holes and carbon

From my understanding....new cats do that, and cats that are at the end of their life do that.....(ie mine)

in a way i do outrun it. the smell is only detectable when i come to a stop or am idling for a while, so im still waiting for it to go away. Question: if the smell is the cat working, then would now be a good time to go get aircared (smog tested)?
