3.5" exhaust setup

i am thinking of getting a 3.5" exhaust setup with my car. itll end up with 350-400 horsepower. i would like to hear about anybodys 3.5" setup, or opinions on them. im planning on getting hedman shorty headers with a y-pipe that cost $112 (i think thats without the y-pipe) in one book. do i need a 3.5" y-pipe or would 3" be sufficient? i wont have a cat. now the intermediate pipe would be 3.5" obviously. now, about the muffler.... what would be good? is it possible for the muffler to exit the rear on 3rd gens, or does it pretty much have to be sideways underneath the car? if it can't exit the rear, im assuming it would have 2 outlets for tailpipes. what size tailpipes would these be, 3" or 2.5"? where could i get a 3.5" in muffler, since it isnt too common?

what setup would you recommend if you dont think 3.5" would be good? sorry for the millions of questions . thanks for the help in advance

if you run the hedman headers, dont get their Y pipe it is only 2.5". if i were you i would look into a dual setup, but if you are set on single i would have a Y pipe fabbed to start at 3.5". no point in setting a car up for a 3.5" exhaust when you have a 3" bottleneck at the beginning

the problem is there is no real room for two turbo mufflers anywhere under our cars, people seem to overlook the fact that if you just run normal or even better oval piping back to your rear axel in the tranny tunnel and put car chemistry 3 disc street inserts in the header collectors or piping, you have a system that has great ground clearance. the problem for me is finding someone that will weld it all up for me since exhaust shops around here wont work on non smog cars

You could go with the mufflex 4" system. I don't know of anybody that makes a 3.5" system for our cars, so it would all have to be custom. Duals can be fine on a daily driver if they are routed right. I have 3" on mine and only have clearance problems when I have a lot of weight in the car.

Hers One of the best true dual setups I've seen on a 3'gen https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=135588

I have a 3,5" exhaust and I'm planning on getting dual 3" pipes after the axle.

Al I can say is its really tight over the axle.....
