hmm..........i have the flowtech shorty headers, and if i remember correctly, the instructions included for them said they 78-88 Gm G bodies as well. what is the part # on the headers? are they shorty style with 1.5" primaries? if they are the shorty style, i wouldnt be suprised if they fit, but i would like to see a part number, then i could tell you. i cant remember what the part # is for my headers, i will check when i get home.
as for reasons on why a person would use the flowtechs:
1. they are cheap
2. they are excellent quality for the money (excpet the crappy gaskets, get the flowtech rea-seal dead soft aluminum gaskets)
3. the ones for 3rd gens fit great, on both sides.
4. the 1.5" primaries are good for a 305
5. they are headers and as a result are way better than factory exhaust manifolds
