Suggestions for a headers/catback combo.

1990 Iroc-Z28 w/ L98 5.7 TPI.
Lovin the fact that I don't gotta waste my time with the intake cause its great already, but I'd like to know what headers to go for with a dynomax exhaust system... I was thinking the easy solution is to go with Dynomax headers as well, but i'm aware that maybe another third-party part might work better.

Anyway...

I'd go with Hooker headers, dynomax from what I hear is crap for headers.

So Dynomax is good for cats-back, but you would use Hooker 1 5/8 headers? Hmmm. Anyone else hear Dynomax's headers no good?

I have the shorties from hooker.....p/n 2460-1 ceramic coated...they dont come with a y-pipe but u can get one custom made. They are a very good header...and 1 5/8" cost me around $330....but i think they're a little more now

Did you have a better 1/4, or did you not take it to track after? How much did the whole system run you - headers, y-pipe, cats back.

Very noticeable gain?

Does Hooker sell a compelte kit for headers to Ypipe to Cats back?

Does a 1990 Iroc-Z need a custom Y pipe? Help me.

So Mark, that would be headers w/ y pipe and cats back?

nm the hi-flow cats, waste of money for the marginal gain.

yes, you'll need a pipe in place of the cat though.

Hooker doesn't do the dual cats, at least for the headers.

Edelbrock & SLP are the only ones I know who have a y-pipe with their headers for the dual cats.

That's why I'd replace the dual cats, with just a single.

But a single hi-flow cat would flow marginally equal to two factories and they cost an extra 120 or so bones. =( isnt there a different company that makes a y-pipe thatll hook (no pun intended) to the hooker headers?

I don't see how a single hi flo, wouldn't outflow 2 factory ones by a lot, I mean worth the $90 or so for the one cat.

So any 3" in/out cat right?
That'll give me an excuse I guess to buy something from Random Technology =9

So if I got a cat - Id need the p/n you specified earlier right mark? That'd be it, the headers to the cat and all the way back if I give up and buy the cat. Any other pipe I might need?

the part # was for the headers, I wouldn't blow $200 on a random tech cat, when you can get a Catco one for 1/2 the price.
