edelbrock headers w/stock cat back&cat

edelbrock headers w/stock cat back&cat

im going to buy the edelbrock headers for my car soon ,but dont have the money for the cat back yet .should i wait a couple weeks and get the both at the same time, or will i be all right using the stock cat bck withe the headers for a little while.i figured itll cost me 900+ for the headers cat and catback+cost to have them installed if id do at different times it would nt be as much

Which car/motor combo do you have? Assuming you have a 86-92 single cat TPI car then the TES headers will slip right onto the stock 3" cat. Obviously the likely-clogged stock cat and restrictive stock cat-back will limit the power potential, but it will all fit for a time being. You will probably end up needing to weld the headers to the cat to avoid exhaust leaks in the end though, so you'll have to put up with that untill you finalize your setup.

If you have a TBI car then you're out of luck using the stock stuff. Wrong size, without some creative tubing and welding by the installer, not a short term fix since you'll want the 3" stuff anyway.

yea my cars the 89 305 tpi single cat model sounds like i should just wait to get it all at once
