Best inexpensive header/exhaust combo?
Best inexpensive header/exhaust combo?
My exhaust system really sucks -- the manifold is super rusted out and the exhaust is rusted, rattling, and damaged. So I'm looking to replace both at the same time. What's the best header/exhaust combo I can get without spending a ton of cash? I was thinking of a Flowmaster exhaust with Hooker or Headman headers. Ideally I'd like to keep it in the $400-500 range, or less if possible.
BTW, I don't intend on keeping my cats, so I'm not sure if that factors into things. Also I have SFCs. Currently the exhaust rides the passenger side SFC, thus the horrible vibration and virtually no clearance.
Thanks.

Forgot - Currently I've got dual exhaust, (looks stock even though I thought the 305 Formulas only came with a single out), and dual cats. The pipes run from the manifold to the side where they hook up with the cats (located just inside the passenger side SFC). The right pipe laying on that SFC (thus the annoying rattle and poor clearance). From there they run back to the stock muffler then to the dual outs.
I'm not looking for a super throaty exhaust (though it would be nice), just something solid that'll work well with headers and add a few extra horses. Clearance and price are big factors, though. The car is LOW, and right now I'm dragging that pipe every time I have to go over a speedbump, incline, or pothole.
Thanks a ton.

TES Headers $320, Hooker Cat-Back $260, works great, sounds great, performs great, not too much $$$.
