Want a cooler sound than what i have...

Alright guys, I've got a 86 TA with a new 350 with a melling cam. I've got the stock manifolds, no cat, and the 80 series flowmasters.

It sounds nice and mean. I like it loud.

What kind of sound difference would i get if i put a short glasspack before the muffler?

Would it be quieter?

Thanks.

Gary

Of course it would be quieter!!

The more mufflers you install the quieter it's going to be.

I think you would find that the glass pack will hurt your performance MORE than some of today's new catylitic converters, such as the 3-inch Catco or Random Technology systems. The glass pack is an early-sixties technology. I'd either leave your system alone, or add a converter up the line.

FWIW, my 133,000 mile 305 just ran nearly 101 MPH with a fully functional Carsound 3-inch universal catylitic converter.

the loudest muffler I have heard on a car with stock manifolds is a 40 series flowmaster. the single muffler is louder than the crossflow. my friend has the 80 series and my dad has the 40 and it is quite a bit louder.
