instead of getting new long-tube headers and a 4" cat-back, could a cut-out give the extra flow needed for high hp? what would be the best location for it? just after the headers, or just before the muffler?
anyone rig up something so it can be opened and closed from in the car? i've heard of some vettes w/ 2 seperate exhaust systems one free flow, other normal quiet they could be opened and closed from driver seat.

i gotta 87 camaro with flomaster cat back and a cat co cat with a cutout just under the back right passenger floor pan. it sounds great! i get lots of compliments on it. i dont know if it gives me any power or not but it sounds cool. Also Mr. Gasket makes a cut out that can be opened from the inside but its iron and I hve heard it rattles and is not very reliable. so id pass on that one. I have the Flo-tech race reddies and their great! get em!!!!!!!!

 

i dunno, my friend has an 86 vette, and all he did was put in cutouts right after the manifolds and it sounds like royal a$$. it backfires and pops all the time...it also decreases backpressure, which is harder on the engine and can actually lower horsepower.
