tips up or down??
tips up or down??
I just put on Flowmaster 80 series. I have been hearing different things about them. A few people told me that to get a deeper sound you should take the tail pipes and bend then so the hole faces down. Any Ideas?

Its a matter of accoustics.
I think that if you point your tailpipes down it will create more noise since the sound will echo off the ground...but this might be annoying after a while.
I have mine pointing straight back. Noise in the car while I am driving is nice meanwhile everyone outside and behind me turns their head when I open the throttle.

I've been wondering the same thing for a while, myself. I got an 80-series backin July and it sounds AWESOME. Jest wait till you break that baby in for about a month's driving... it gets meaner and meaner. As far as the tips go, mine are bent down at the end and the car sound very very nice. I don't have cat-back, but I did get a 3'' intermediate pipe when I got the flow, so that freed up some HP... and sound with it!
Appearance wise, I would prefer a straight dual exit with tips, but, if someone tells me I'm losing sound... forget it. The bouncing off the ground theory sounds reasonable too.

You have your tips bent on a 90 degree angle? I know whut your sayin about breakin it in, I been hearing it get louder and louder....I didn't think about the 3 inch pipe though...I only got a 2.5 maybe I will do the switch
Blah Blah Blah it gets to hot,NO it doesn't.
Cut the tips OFF! Straight out the muffler!
yes Iknow the pipes exit sideways but I've done it.If you got clamps for the tips take them suckers off and see what I mean,if you don't like it clamp them back on.Welded or not the tips hurt sound,I've never had a car that I didn't cut the pipes right after the muffler and not get a better sound.Trust me.
