Ehxhaust note

Im doing a show car with a buick V6 the only problem is that the enine sounds like a stock rice burner. I'm thinking of adding a high flow cat (dont want to gut it because of emissions) and then a Thrush 45" Glasspack muffler. My goal in all this is to obtain the same nice V8 note i get from my 85 IROC and add a dual exhaust. Any suggestions... below i have listed how my exhaust is layed out for your refrence.

The Buick is a FWD so the exhaust runs over the transmission then down the center of the car (where a driveshaft would be normally), then it runs back with a muffler in the same place as on the camaro with 1 inlet on the drivers side, and 1 outlet on the passenger side.

There's NO WAY a V6 or inline 6 will sound like a V8. Sixes just don't generate the harmonics of a V8. It's just plain ol' acoustics. The only sixes that sound incredibly wicked are airplane engines. Go to an airport and listen to a large single engine airplane. A Lycoming 550 CID flat six spinning a propeller just reeks acoustic testosterone. If you want your V6 to have that basso profoundo sound, try an Edelbrock RPM series or one of Flowmaster's larger three chambered mufflers. But, you'll never escape that automobile six cylinder sound.
