emissions w/ LT1
i've been looking to put an LT1 intake on my TBI 305. the mods are fesible to make, but it would put the car out of legal emissions range. Anyone know how to mod the EGR to make it emissions legal? Or is there some other way to change the exhaust to tweak legality outta the system?

I just bought an LT1 intake for my car. I was told that EGR isn't necessary for emissions and it is still possible to pass. Make sure everything else is running good, and you should be alright. Try some fuel injector cleaner the week before, premium gasoline, and remember to take the test hot.

where do you live? i'm in GA and the emissions here are fairly strict. I am no where near acutally puttina an LT1 on my car yet, but from what i understand from my car buddies, etc. the emissions are well beyond the range. Could there be less strict limits for you because you have the 5.7? also, did you notice an extreme perf difference? With the 5.0 i'm a little doubtful that it's going to be as drastic as some claim.

As for performance difference, I haven't put it on yet. It hasn't even arrived yet, I just ordered it 2 days ago. It won't be on for a while. If I can get a winter beater, I'll be able to work on my car throughout the winter and I would like to put a new cam in and some headers on too.

..."visual"? Don't even know what one is...
Yeah, my plan for the summer is a complete rebuild...that's also when i'm planning on doing the LT1. yeah, io'm going with some nice new Holley headers and hooker exhast and prolly dyno cat. haven't decided as of yet. Also looking to do cam...there's just plenty of stuff to do, just need a place wher ei can have bits of engine scattered about for a couple o' weeks!

A visual is a visual inspection, where they check your engine for EGR, AIR, other stuff (I'm not exactly sure what they look for). They also look for a cat.
