Hooker part # question?. please help
Ok. i am planning on ordering a Hooker Cat-back system tonight. I just wanted to know what the difference between part number 520-16822(engine code G,F&7 83-85) and part number 520-16823(engine code G,F&8 86-92) beside the $60 price difference. both work on G&F. my engine code is 7. but i just want to know why there is a $60 difference. Thanks.

This is in Jeg's I assume. The # before the dash is what they use to identify the manufacturer (in this case Hooker), the number after it is the actual part # (just so you know). But I was wondering the same thing. They are all 3" intermediate pipe, dual 2.5" out of muffler. The only difference between them is how they connect to the cat. 16822 bolts to the 4-bolt cat of HO cars, 16820 bolts to the regular 2-bolt cat, and I don't know about the 16823, but it might be slip fit. Pretty stupid that one is 60 bucks cheaper eh? I will be ordering the cheap one also ($200) and using the savings on a new high-flow cat with 4 bolts!

i ordered it and asked them what the difference is and they said that the $199.99 (part # 16822) is slip-fit. and the other ones are bolt-on. Thanks.

Hmmm... Now I'm having doubts about the staff at Jeg's. I just talked to them tonight before I saw your post and then posted what they told me. Before this, I called them about 3 weeks ago and the guy told me it was 2.5" all around and that they don't sell ANY 3" exhausts. NOW I AM REALLY HESITANT TO LISTEN TO ANYTHING THEY HAVE TO SAY. Which one did you end up buying, and did you get it yet? were they correct? Thanks, and sorry for the wrong info if it is wrong (who knows?)

I ordered Part number 16822(engine code G,F&7 83-85) for $199.99 and they said it is 3" I-pipe and the hooker web page also says its 3" , go to it at http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLin...CBS/SCCar.html . I order it last Friday, Oct.27th. and i should be getting it Tomarrow. Ill let you know if its right. the guy you talked to that said they dont sell 3" I pipe must have been wrong because they get it from Hooker and Hooker says its 3"

ok. i just got the Hooker Cat-back part number 16822(engine code G,F&7 83-85)and it was only $199 and the I-pipe is 3" , but it looks like it is for a 4-bolt cat. so i will have to do some modifications. i would have to do modifications anyway because my cat is about 2" longer then stock. i should have it on tomarrow and i will tell you guys how it sounds.

Well. I got my Hooker Cat-back on today and it sounds NICE!!. its nice and quiet at idle and crusing speeds. but when i push it its sounds nice and rumbly and thouty and loud.
