I installed the 250hp (rated) 350 but still have the edelbrock tes headers off of the 305. The ypipe converges to a 21/4 I think. The cat is gutted but the rest of the exhaust is 2.25 or 2.5 single. Is the engine able to breath properly?

You'll definitely benefit from a 3" exhaust on there.

yes it is restricting youi went from 305 to 350 tpi and drop 3 tenths jus by putting a exuast cut out right where the y pipes comes together i have 21/2 y pipe going into 21/4 ill put 3" on it this winter but im still gonna keep my cut out on so i can uncap it at thew track i think even a single 3" pipes is to little good luck Ron
