Headers and Glaspacks ok for now?
I was hoping to do my 350 TPI swap this weekend, but don't have the exhaust. Is there any danger in running headers straight to glaspacks temporarily until I can order a decent exhaust or catback system? I won't have a cat, of course. What about headers straight to two cats, with two pipes going straight back? Has this worked for anyone? Remember, I'm just looking for something temporary so that I can get the car back home. I don't have headers or anything right now. By the way, anyone in the Austin area know a place that sells headers or does custom exhaust? thanks

dont even bother with header OR exhaust manifolds or any of that other restictive crap. just let the exhaust come out of the ports. it will sound meaner than anything youve ever heard...or atleast i imagine it would.

headers and glasspack will work if thats what you got. you could keep it that way if you wanted. you dont need cats as long as you have a heated O2 sensor. running to dual cats and straight out would work too, its all about how loud you want it. im running a dual setup from headers, to randome technology cats, out to borla XR-1 race mufflers, and dumping in front of the rear tires. im also running a crossover pipe. that should make it pretty loud. if you run headers and glasspacks, its gona be REAL loud. good luck man
Just curious, is it possible to replace the cat on ohhhh say an LG4 motor, which has the Edelbrock TES & y-pipe deal, with some sort of glasspack, then out to the intermediate pipe, muffler and tips etc. as usual?
Lemme rephrase that, tear out cat, throw on glasspack.
Would that work? I really hate my new neighbours, and my late-night job. Muahahaha.

When I was having My headers put on, I had to drive it from My mechanics shop to the muffler place with nothing but the headers on.... This was not a sound ANY of us want. I like loud and everything...but, this noise was UNbearible. Everybody in traffic looking at Me like I'm insane... it's THAT loud.
As for that other question, Yes You can put just about any muffler You want in the cat position. I have a flowmaster two chamber muffler where My cat was and then the whole exhaust ends there. I might put the rest of the pipes in, eventually. But it's so much fun like this... hehee... I think the headers straight into glasspacks idea would work. It's gonna be loud in a "low tone" kinda way, not a tinny flowmaster way. I think it would be cool enough to keep, permanently. But, I'm a nut...
