convert 2-1/2" exhaust pipe to 3"

I have an '84 Trans Am with the Vin H engine. It has the 2-1/2" exhaust pipe. Can I replace it with the factory 3" pipe?
Is it a direct bolt on?

The L69 (vin G) y-pipe will not bolt-up to the LG4 (vin H) exhaust manifolds. I went cheap and replaced the whole LG4 exhaust with an L69--shoot, even the L69 intermediate pipe was bigger than the after market I was running at the time. Should you decide on hedders, go for the L69 version.
