Awesome Exhaust.....w/n
Awesome Exhaust.....w/n
Well I think that I have finally got it all sorted out how I am going to do my exhaust on my 2.8L but would just like some feed back & an answer to where would be the best location for my Cutout.
- Exhaust Plan -
1) Hooker Competition Headers (coated by eitehr JET HOT or by PB Motor Sports)
2) Y-pipe & the rest of the exhaust would be all aluminum, diameter of 2.5"
3) 2.5" CATCO CAT
4) Summit Racing Cutout 2.5"
5) 2 Chrome 3.5" tips (coated by either one of those companies)
Also I've got another question: When I get my headers & tips sent out to be coated should I also send them my Cutout & CAT to be coated as well? Later guys

Those are some pretty big exaust tips, maybe u could tone it down to like 3" tips instead. I hate fbodies that have ridicoulously large tips. Look like that belong on a big diseal or somethin. Just my opioion. The rest sounds good.

The reason why I am not going w/ stainless steel is b/c it would be heavier than the exhaust system that I currently have and aluminum is lighter than the stock exhaust and the stainless steel.
I already have the 3.5" chrome tips already installed. I've had it for about a year now. It provides the best sound as far as tips go b/c they are really long and wide. They look really damn mean on my car plus these new set of tips won't rust like the current ones that I have right now. And to think that I was thinking about going to 4" but thought that would be overkill.

ok,,I'll admit,, you've still got my curiosity
where would you get the aluminum tubing & bends to do this? and would you clamp or weld this system togeher (this is an intriguing idea of yours)

Actually my friend who owns the exhaust shop suggested this idea to me b/c it would be lighter sound better and would never rust. It would be fully welded and the owner of the exhaust shop would get all the aluminum 2.5" piping and custom mandrel bend the pipes for me. Everything would be $150 for the alumium piping then plus labor. It won't be till the first or second week of January till this gets done b/c all this stuff has to be coated plus X-mas is just around the corner.
Did I satisfy some of your curiosity bro?
