Can you hollow out a muffler and get any performance gain?
I was thinking of doing this if it does something.

if you hollow out your muffler it will be alot louder but you will notice a tiny difference in performance you need the air r4estriction of the muffler . best thing to do is to replace it .
That's an old trick from before WW2 when mufflers were baffle plate deals. Taking a pipe and pushing it from one end to the other was possible and practical.
I think you'd end up ruining the casing by the time the guts were rammed out of a modern muffler. You're better off installing something else. Glasspacks are dirt cheap and would flow better than a hollowed-out casing.
