Hooker And Edelbrock 50 State Legal Header. ??s (SLP to expensive not gonna bother)

I am looking for a set of headers. now i realy just want the better flow that the headers will give over the manifolds. i also donot want to make a dayjob out of changing sparkplugs. the car is a daily driver and i will be getting a se of MSD 8.5 wires with 90* boots that yo umake yourself when i do the header job.

now i saw the TES headers and heard alot of good about them i just dont like the look they have on the pasanger side. it looks like i will be baking ignition wires and have a tight sparkplug fit.

now i saw the set of headers that car craft used on their 91 305tpi camaro when they first put the supercharger on it. they show a picture and part number of the headers they used. the picture has the pasanger side header shown and it looks very good, looks like a good sparplug/wire fit.

now my eyes are set on the hooker ones. for $$ 350.00 from summit. my question is wich of these two would be better and i do the hooker headers need anythign special besides what is suplied when yo ubuy them (will the stock cat slip on? maby new engine mounts? stering colum and brake lines in the way?
will i need a smaller starter and/or will the headers cook the starter?)

the part numbers for the 2 are

tes -6872
hooker - 2055

thanks

I have those Hooker headers on my '87 IROC and they fit great. They're a better design than the Edelbrocks since all of the primary tubes are 1 5/8" diameter, the Y-pipe has 2 1/2" tubes going to the 3" slip-fit connection at the cat. Stock cat might need to be widened a little where it slips over the Y-pipe, but nothing else special is needed.

I didn't have any interference with anything else; didn't even need to jack up the engine to get them in. I did need to modify the A/C bracket, but since you have the serpentine belt setup, you won't need to. Stock starter fits since and mine's been running great for over 2 years.

Getting the 90-degree boot spark plug wires is a great idea since you'd burn the wires with straight boots like I did (put old wires on before the new ones came). Spark plus access is -much- better than with the stock manifolds, although having a very short spark plug socket or slotting one so you can slip it on from the side is a must for a couple of the plugs. I bought SLP's shorty socket for $20, but I think it's better to slot an existing one that's the original length...

I am VERY happy with my TES headers, the right side is a tight fit, but my custom 8.8mm Accel wires fit just fine so long as I routed them creatively. The headers are for sure the best mod I have done.
