Headers vs Manifolds

How many more hp will you get by putting on a set of headers with straight pipes?

that all depends on the other modifications that you have done to the engine. i would recomend a muffler of some kind unless you are running a large engine with some serious mods done to it.

If it breaks, it wasn't good enough anyway.

Too many factors; I don't even know what engine you're talking about. Some factory exhaust manifolds are pretty good. Some factory exhausts were absolute abominations and the engineer should've been fired or the company bean-counters fired for such designs.

If it's not just a race car, this wouldn't be worth much I don't think. It would all be (for the most part) is top end horsepower, and possibly a loss of low-end torque-kinda going from one extreme to the other. For the track, this may work alright, since your powerband would be up higher anyways, ie, more useable horsepower than on the street. But with let's say, a even mildly built 305, the powerband is wide in the lower-RPM's and have limited rev potential, I would personally recommend it, I think you'd lose more than you would gain with that setup.
