I know Edelbrock TES and SLP, but I'm not really interested in either of those.
I've looked elsewhere, but with little luck so far. Are those my only options?

Unfortunitly, none of the headers out there made for dual cats will install to them without some cutting and welding, the SLP headers we put on my friend's IROC did however line up to the dual cats well but require cutting the cats at the welds and then slid right in, after that just welded the two pipes and the install was complete. As I said in my other posts a plasma cutter or a sawzaw would have made that cutting thing a lot easier. I know other companies out there make them (Hooker, BBK, JBA maybe.)

That's what I thought.
Next question. If I came up with a set of Edelcrap TES headers (cheap mind you) and wanted to buy the Y pipe for a dual cat setup, is there anybody who sells just those? Of course it would have to be edelbrock brand sold by a parts dealer, but I don't recall ever seeing any.

If you call edelbrock they can send you just the Y pipe, Cost:??
But definetly a lot cheaper than the whole set.
If you do that make sure you get the Donuts for the Y pipe to collector connection.

Philip,
Edelbrock's "Y" pipe included with their dual cat kit is nothing but a pair of 90-degree elbows. Their idea is that that is all you need to mate up to your stock dual cat system. SLP's kit includes enough pipe to replace the stock pipes up to the converters (as described above). So in essence, I believe SLP is the only company that has "cats to header" pipes for a dual cat system.

I contacted edelbrock about the replacement y-pipe for the 5.7L TPI headers, they are sold as part #25-9560 and 25-9561. these are bulk items and go for $75 each. You can also get them at summit, but they are a little more. I'm on the same boat. Last year I ordered a complete dual cat set-up from www.discountconverter.com cost around $370. part #4153 and welded the edelbrock peices with the replacement y-pipe.

I normally don't say this, but for the dual-cat application, I might consider the Hooker Comps (p/n 2460), and either have the stock pipes modified to connect to their collectors, or have new pipes fabricated from collector to the cats. If emissions are a concern, they can be special ordered with A.I.R. tubes.
The other option is to go with Hooker Super Comps (p/n 2055) and have the "y" cut off of the y-pipe and pipe fabricated to go to the cats. That would probably be a lot more expensive than going with the Comp/fab route, though.
Dual cats are nice, it's a pity Hooker doesn't accomodate them.

5/7,
I'd thought about getting the Hooker supercomps and hackin' away at the Y pipe....
Then I can always tell my wife I'm gonna take my hookers out for a ride in my Camaro.
I'm not real fond of what I've read about the Edelbrock TES system, now hearing that they throw in a couple of elbows that are supposed to hook up makes me like them a little less.
Guess I've narrowed it down to SLP or Hooker. Unless I hear something overwhelming I'm gonna go with Hooker I think. I like the idea that their supercompetition headers are "balanced". Of course doesn't do much good unless your entire system is balanced, but hey, it's a start.

Willie,
I'm not real fond of what I've read about the Edelbrock TES system (but had a set lined up for about $60 without the Y pipe), now hearing that they throw in a couple of elbows that are supposed to hook up makes me like them a little less.

Philip,
The next time you're at my house, let's take a look at the header-to-cat pipes on my car.
Another option you might want to consider is to order a couple of mandrel bends and have these pipes fabricated.
