SLP Headers to coat or not to coat?

for those of you who purchased the SLP headers, did you get them ceramic coated? Do you think it reduced engine temps? Any help would be appreciated, Tony

If you can afford it, do it! I've got SLP 1-3/4 that are going to be coated by Paul Barry Motorsports. His coating is the best I've experienced. I used it on my '94 MACs and after an hour and 15 minutes I could literaly grab my headers (needed to swap header gaskets). Something that is not possible with uncoated headers, **** my cylinder heads and radiator were hotter than my headers.

had my coated by jet-hot, to the touch they seem hotter, but i was amazed at how much cooler my engine runs, alot of times i was very close to 210 degrees all the time and now it stays well below 200 almost always. If your going to do it, do it right.

I wouldda loved to have mine coated. SLP uses 409 stainless which actually "rusts" on the surface and doesn't look showy. And they kinda rip off alot of heat near those brake lines and fan switch (2 things 2 close IMO)

Has anyone order the SLP headers that are already coated by them? I talked to them and they say they are coated inside and out and look just like jet-hot coating.

Seems to me that it would be easier and cheaper to buy the finished product from slp then to buy the uncoated headers and have them sent off to be coated.

Just my opinion, I don't have any experience with slp products.

The only coating SLP put on mine was a dark gray "paint". But the reason why I got the headers, then will send them out is because I want to remove any flow restrictions caused by the welds and air tubes (see pic). After this is done I will be able to get them coated.

Yep! The first time I fired it up that "ceramic" looking paint burned right off..
