Just got my catback in...it's awfully close to the ground...anybody have any insights? Was it done wrong, or is it close enough to the rear axle to not be a problem?

Make sure its all aligned properly. Its somewhat typical for them to hang down a bit. As much as I like mine the quality is kinda ****ty, the tailpipes don't line up centered on the back of the car, it hangs a bit low, and we had to cut and bend the junction in the middle of the intermediate pipe to get the smaller tube to telescope into the larger. I think Edelbrock needs to check their hardware and correct any problems, it would also be nice if their instructions gave more info on getting it all lined up rather than just a photocopied sheet of paper with a picture or two.

I have a cat back for a 305 tpi. MIne is for single converer. I think ours are pretty much the same.
Mine hung low too. what i did is cut about 2-3 inches (I don't remember) off the intermediate pipe on the axle side. By doing this the intermediate pipe would slide further up into the pipe that goes over the axle.
This really helped ground clearance. Another thing to check is where it is low. If it low by the cat, then this may not work.
You have TES headers right. If it is low by the cat then you can loosen the header-to-y pipe bolts and kinda tilt the whole thing forward to raise the cat side.-just a thought.
And finally (gasp),if the allignment of the tailpipes isn't straight, i have found that by playing with the connection of the intermediate pipe to the over-axle pipe,
twisting them in either direction changes the angle at which the muffler sits.
Do you have any idea where we can get more donut seals for the y pipe? mine are old and leak bad!
good luck man

Thanks for all the ideas, man...I'm gonna have my mechanic do what he thinks...I'm tired of messing with it. About donut gaskets: if you used the ones that came with the system, depending on how long they've been on there, it may be a serious pain getting them off, as they may have melted and fused on over time. If you do in fact get them off, score some dead-soft type collector gaskets at a parts store or Summit. Mine were like $15 or so...they'll never leak, and they're reusable. Hope I helped...you sure did. Thanks again!
