I dont know what can be done, but I'm always beating the **** out of my 3'' cat. It used to round, now its a semicirle with some leaks that sound like a jet at WOT. Anyway to get the cat more tucked up into the body? I'm not lowered and the shocks/springs are decent.

 

Is your exhaust drooping, maybe it just needs to be given some support.

 

it may be sagging as ive never observed it in motion, but standing still it wont move up and down much. when i got it welded in, i got it attached at all the stock anchor points.

 

How much clearance do you have between your floorpan and cat? If the cat is solid but positioned too low, well, there goes your ground clearance. If your ride height is stock, I'd say you should have no problems, unless you don't slow down for speed bumps.

 

i always crawl over speed bumps and the speed "mounds" that are in the school lot, but it doesnt help. if i heated the pipes and bent them up so the cat is touching the floor, would that be a good solution, or would i burn the passengers feet and make alot of vibrations?

 

If you heat the pipes to bend them, I think they will begin to deteriorate pretty soon. Exhaust tubing isn't really meant to be bent with heat. And yes, if you move the cat against the floor, I'm pretty sure you will have both excessive heat under the floor and vibration. If you need to raise your exhaust very much, I'd cut it apart to realign it and weld it back together in the proper position. How much clearance you need between floor and cat I don't know right now, and I'm too lazy to walk 40 yards out to my shop and roll under my car right now. It's COLD out there!

OK, I'll take a stab at it - I'd say half an inch should be a happy medium.

 

hey, i totally understand, i havent got under my car since summer . maybe ill just take it to a muffler shop and get them to sort it out.
