Got info from someone saying that these GM motors prefer the Y-Pipe over duals? Well at least the 2.8 and the 350. or not? Just curious.

That is kind of vague.. Do you mean, that it's easier to run a Y, then yes it is.

Any motor, will benefit more from duals rather than a single exhaust.

no. its more the body and the clearance above the ground that perfers the y-pipe. out it this way. i had flowtech shorty headers, the factory y-pipe (the worst flowing piece of exhaust pipe ever built), no cat, and a dynomax catback. i ran a 15.69 with a properly functioning carb. i put on a set of duals and ran 15.3 with a broken carb. also the duals, including 2 hooker aerochambers and installation, cost me almost a 100 bucks less than what the cheapest performance cat back costs here. need less to say kept the duals when i swapped in a 350. now, had i have had a good mandrel bent high flow y-pipe, the exhaust would have been less restrictive. for alot of the cars on a here headers, a good y-pipe no cat/high flow cat, and 3 inch catback with a good flowing muffler is fine and not hurting anything, but duals are still gonna be better, especially if you a macking some decent power

you also mentioned the 2,8 v6....these motors dont make very much power, a decent cat back will be plenty good for them unless you have some crazy forced induction system on there.

hope that answers some of the questions
