Emissions, worth keeping or not?

Is it worth removing all the emissions equipment for hp gains. How much do you actually gain. Also I have a 383 in an 85 iroc and want to get headers. I want 1 3/4 with air hookups but the only ones to hook up to my 85 four bolt cat is slp and they are expensive. Any suggestions on another company who has 1 3/4 that will use by four bolt cat. Thanks guys.

SLP is the only outfit offering 1-3/4" primaries and A.I.R. fittings. The A.I.R. system doesn't cost you any power worth mentioning, only benefit of removing it is not having to work around it.

When the headers are installed is a good time to ditch that 4-bolt cat. '85 was the only year for it, go for a 3" slip fit ('86-'90 TPI single-cat application) or dual cat setup.

I wouldn't go that far. I dumped all my smog garbage and wiped a nice .13 off the slip.

Depends on where you live, and if Emission Checks are in the plans for your location. Something to think about or just get rid of it all.
