I have an 88' Iroc-Z 5.7(350) I was wondering what exhaust system i should put on. I want to do a cat-back setup, i was looking a Random Technology/Mac exhaust/Flowmaster/or any others out there! Which cat back do you recemend, i want the most HP and a good sound, louder than stock. ANY SUGGESTIONS thanks justin

well horse power is going to be marginal between systems. I like the sound of the hooker and flowmaster. the hooker has dual tips on each side which I don't like as much. I think the mac looks like a real nice kit but have not heard it. I want stainless so I am getting a random tech. we are trying to get a group purchase going. someone compared the sound of it to a flowmaster but I have not heard it. the one thing you have to think of is all though these nice chome tips on the cheap setups look good now two years from now they wont. I think you kind of have to decide what you what and work backwards. you like or don't like the daul tips or don't care. how important is life span of the exhaust. these kind of things.

I know the Random Technology one is high quality, but like the Borla system, it costs over $500. I agree with Gearrrhead, the Hooker and Flowmaster systems work well. I have been very happy with the Hooker Aerochamber cat-back I purchased from Jegs last summer for $260. It installed without any welding in about an hour and a half in my garage!

i personally like the magnaflow. it is not real popular with people here. but it flows awesome. and sounds great. it gets louder as you put on mods. go to magnaflow.com and do a dealer search to find out where to get it. you wont be dissatisfied. and they have a stainless steel one also now. its shiny as CHROME. looks great.

I have the american thunder system from flowmaster and love it,deep throaty sound inside and out and good power gains. It also has stainless tips for a very nice appearance.Hooks up easy and not too pricey.

I installed a used Borla exhaust on my '86 IROC...it still had the 305 and a peanut cam at the time. It sounded great, but would sound best with a little more 'cam lope'. What I like best is the adjustability of it...it has interchangable plates you can use to bypass more or less exhaust past the muffler. It's also stainless and has dual slash-tips on each side...I bought mine used at a steal, but since it's stainless, who cares?
