Is this stock?
Is this stock?
I've got an '84 Z28 vin (H) but it's got two mufflers. I wanted to go to a Flowmaster or somthing but all I can find is a single muffler system.
My exhaust runs from the cat, splits into two 2" pipes one to each muffler. The mufflers have a cross-over tube between them then they exit to two exhaust pipes. What is this?

What the ****!? That has got to be one of the wildest thigs I've ever heard. Any ways, the answer to your Q is yes. The stock setup should only have 1 pipe coming from the cat/cats leading into a transverse muffler. You cna change to a flowmaster setup with no problems. But wait, maybe consider keeping your current configuration and installing 2 flowmasters instead of using the transverse version. Flow will be better and it might sound differnet also. Then even consider putting dual cats on(if your car only has 1) and making it a true dual exhaust setup. Hope my rambling helps!

That type of exhaust came on some early thirdgen TAs and Z28s (82-84 maybe). Used small diameter pipe into two mufflers.

Great! at least it's replacable. It has good sound now and from what I can tell decent flow but I was looking for a little bit louder and of course better flow.
Since this setup seems kinda unusual, should I just look at a cat-back system or just replace the mufflers. a weekend bolt-on would be a whole lit nicer than a trip to the muffler shop.
Thanks
