Ceramic Coating on Headers. What does it do?
Ceramic Coating on Headers. What does it do?
I know this sounds like an ignorant questions, but there are many reasons I can think of, but I have no clue if my "assumptions" are correct. Is it really work doubling the price the headers to have this done? What about painting them? What is the advantage of that? I'm looking for a "lesson" here" If you have a web site I should go to that would be cool to. Thanks for the help.

If you have steel headers i would say coat them. The ceramic lengthens the life of the headers as well as holds in some heat. They wont rust or discolor. I would also assume that it prevents the inside of the headers from rusting, which would smoothen the flow out a bit.n If your getting stainless steel, then you could probably go without the coating. Sorry that explanation sucked. there some pics on my site of slps coated and uncoated.

Welp, I'm no expert but when I got my TES last year, it will be a year this Easter, I had them coated...They looked nice then but mine HAVE RUST ON THEM now...may just be surface rust that comes right off I don't know yet.
coating them does a great job with heat however because 2 of my plug wires rest right up on the pass side header and haven't even changed color much less melted.
