Are there any headers for my car that DONT have the EGR ports/holes in them?

 

Yea you can get some shorties that dont have egr hookups but they need to be pro installed.

 

I thought that headers connected only to the exhaust ports. HEADS have connections for EGR.....right?

Ah, you're talking about AIR fittings. Seems like SLP and Hooker make headers without these, probably others out there also.

Hedman makes a set of 1 5/8 shortie headers with no smog junk on them, it took me and my friend around 2 hours to install them, I would recomend a high torque mini starter also for clearance. I ground a good chunk of my starter off to get it to fit.

 

Rookie question here, what are those tubes for anyway? My guess was its some sorta EGR thing but the way the tubes were routed it didn't look like something running that high of a temp (rubber hoses probably don't carry hot exhaust i'm guessing). Is that like some kind of air injection into the exhaust? The look like they go into the smog pump, could somone fill me in here?

Air injection. Helps burn any left-over hydrocarbons in the exhaust. Also goes to cat, helps improve its catalyzing effectivenss.

Hey, I know that SLP does make a set, and they are stainless so that's good. As for what they are; they are the Air Injection Reaction system that flows clean air from the smog pump into the headers and into the cat to burn off unburned fuel. This reduces harmful emissions. Other than that all they do is add weight in the front end and clutter the hell out of your bay. If you can get away without having them get rid of it all, but if you are in a state that has emissions be careful when it comes inspection time. Have fun. Now does anyway, know where the AIR that comes out of the cat goes. I wasn't able to quickly locate it, and want to plug both it and the headers AIR fittings so that I can disconnect the smog pump belt, but be able to uncap them and put the belt back on when it is time for inspection as well as of course swap back in a cat instead of a gutted one.
