AIR/Smog Pump & Headers

I am considering removing the AIR/Smog pump from my ’91 Formula (5.7L). I have read some of the other posts, and it appears that this will not affect the computer or running of the engine (Let me know if you think differently). I was curious if anyone knows what kind of headers I can get for the car that do not have the AIR tubes. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, to my knowledge, there should be no problems with removing that stuff, just make sure that if you dissconnect them you plug up the AIR lines that come back to the engine so that no exhaust trickles back up. Also, taking these out might cause you to burn up your cat due to the presence of unburnt fuel. You might also think about gutting the cat and placeing a pipe either in it or just remove the cat totally. Good luck.

Anybody ran their car through an emmissions test after removing the AIR crap. My 92 GMC truck 350 doesn't have any AIR on it. So I thought about removing mine from the camaro and ordering the GM under hood stickers for my truck and putting them on my car. My inspection station doesn't look under the hood. But I don't want to peg the guage on their test equipment and have to put the crap back on either.
