New exhaust idea
currently i have stock manifolds, flowmaster 80 series with no cat, it has a 305 in it now, im swapping in a mild 350 next month, im gonna get some new shorty style headers dont know witch ones yet, but here is my question, i want to run a dual outlet 50 series, cuz im tired of the way the 80 sounds, sounds to hollow to me, but can i place this muffler where the cat should be and run duals off of it, its kinda like the way they do the newer chevy trucks, one muffler into dual pipes. and will it sound good. just ask any questions and ill be glad to answer. thanks

well it was to cold to measure today, im gonna measure and see if the muffler fits where the stock cat would sit, and then see if i can run duals after the muffller since i can get it with dual outlets. Ill post more about it in the coming days.

So I have this correct:
a pair of headers into a y-pipe. The single exhaust into a 50 series flowmaster with dual outlets, then 2 pipes from the old cat position back.
My first thoughts:
If you go to the trouble of routing 2 pipes from the cat back, why not just keep it fully dual exhaust? Or, install that 1 in 2 out muffler at the rear, so you wouldn't have to run 2 pipes from the old cat location back? Whatever you end up doing, if it's custom post some pictures...
