cat prices?
how cheap (or expensive) would two high flow cats run me? ones that one crap out in two years.
quick explanation : talked to gearhead at our local good year about my exhaust... he wants to run the SLP headers straight to the cats (if they are long enough) and then run 3" pipes back to the muffler... true duals i suppose. he planned on running an "exchange pipe" i think he called right after the cats i think? i wasn't clear on that part. can i buy the SLP headers without the Y-pipe if i go this route?
thanks.

The exchange pipe he is talking about is a balance tube. Depending on it's location, length and size it affects torque and HP. If he has never dynoed a car he is guessing and if the pipes are running right next to each other you probably won't see a difference with or without the balance tube. I don't know how he's going to fit 2 3 inch pipes in there and over the rear axle, depending on what it's going to cost it might be cheaper to get a Mufflex system, like 3 1/2 inch for the future. Twin 3 inch pipes are way to big for your engine and is massive overkill and a waste of money. Even big blocks usually only need 2 1/2 duals.
A catalytic converter can cost you anywhere from about $65 (Catco) to $220+ (Random Technology).
