I jobber told me that by putting headers and performance exhaust I would see about only an 8hp gain on a 350 with a more then mild cam. I do not have th exact specs on the cam but in the list of specs I know that it is the cam that still gives good idle with more power. The next cam would be a rougher idle.

You should get a lot more than that. Especially with a hotter cam. New heads and intake will make the HP number of your exhaust go even higher. But with new cam on a 350, Id say between 15 and 30 hp over stock.

I saw on Horse Power tv that adding y-pipe headers and free flow cat and muffler added about 22 horses at the rear wheels. As for the cam I have no idea.

exhausts alone are capable of giving up to 40 plus H/P depending on the engine. I am no way saying that you will get 40 H/P. If the engine is built and the exhaust is stock then you will see a substanial gain in performance.
