Well....
Which headers? The 1-3/4? or the 1-5/8"?
I have gone 12.24@112.5mph all motor with the 1-5/8" SLP headers.
I hope to be in the 11's with the same headers. We'll see. Yes, I know that with my combo I should be running bigger headers. I have a set of Hooker SuperComp Long Tubes sitting on my shelf waiting for me to gather all the money I need to install them (coating, Mufflex offroad y-pipe, Mufflex catted y-pipe, etc).

Best Time = 12.244 @ 112.51mph (1.778 60' / 7.819@88.32mph in the 1/8)
All Natural. No Force. No Drugs. Stock Bottom End. Stock Body Panels.
Gunning for NA 11's with bigger cam, bigger stall, and bigger exhaust.

I would think, given Tim's result with the 1 5/8", that the 1 3/4" should be sufficient for most high 11 and higher cars.
Could you make more with long tubes? Probably. Are they an absolute necessity? Probably not.

I hate to do this ... but, I actually disagree. It all depends on how you define 'sufficient'. Can you run low 12's with the 1-5/8" headers? Sure ... I did. However, could that have been a high 11 with long tubes? Probably. It would have been nice to run a high 11 with such a tame and peacefull setup. The CC 218/224 on a 112 is a wonderfully streetable cam with the AFR190s and 2800 stall converter. It was like a match made in heaven. Plus, lets not forget that I ran 12.5's @ 108mph with the LTR setup and stock 22lb injectors (before I did the MiniRam and 30lb injectors). Makes me wonder if the AS&M SS-LTR setup could have gone high 11's with a big exhaust. For reference Mike Davis ran 12.5's @ 109 with a relatively weak 60ft with the 1-3/4" SLPs and a fully upgraded LTR setup. I am sure that his LTR setup will be pulling low 12's in no time flat. He is running the AFR190s too.
