Who has installed headers and NOT seen an increase?

Before I install my TES headers I would like to know if anyone has installed headers and not felt any (or very little) increase. With the headache of installation and rust problems I am starting to wonder if I would be better off without them. Thanks!

If you dont see an increase, something is wrong. I saw an increase, but not what I was expecting. I have heard of a lot of guys dropping 4 or 5 tenths with headers.

My car went 14.30s at 95-96 bone stock. Pulled the cat off, smog pump off, ported plenum, put headers on, catback exhaust, and I went to 14.10s at 98-99MPH. I got a solid 3 MPH out of all that which is probably worth somewhere around 30 solid HP.

On the way... Radar Blue 89 Formula, T56, Ram Jet 430, Ram Air, 17inch ROHs.

I threw headers on the V6 and it only knocked off about a tenth.

I saw no increase after installing Hooker headers and catback exhaust. Sorry to disappoint you.

install them, I installed them and it is much better, sounds better also. Then you can tell people you have headers.

If you install headers and see no improvement than something else is pluggin up power and not letting your engine breathe. The point of headers is to free up the restricions made by the stock manifold and Y pipe.

Did you do a proper fuel pressure adjustment with your mods?

I don't have an AFPR, but I've always heard that the stock fuel pressure setting is usually right for most applications.

I had a stock 2-1/4" exhaust sytem, and I replaced it with 1-5/8" headers and 3" exhuast and the difference was like night and day. Gained .5 and 4MPH. My stock exhaust must have been holding back my other mods, because it make a HUGE difference.

To get benefits from headers and exhaust system u have to upgrade the intake as well. Remember u want to improve breathing and exhailing in your motor.

Thanks guys for all the advice. I think I will go ahead and install the TES, sounds like I have nothing to lose and possibly alot to gain!

Road Rocket - Not 100% sure, but I think you are supposed to boost up your fuel pressure to optimize the effectiveness of the headers. I seem to remember seeing that somewhere.

I am just finishing up on slp 1 5/8" headers and y-pipe to existing dynomax cat back. Before with mostly free mods I went 14.7@98 on the g-tech. Along with the headers/y-pipe I installed MSD 6A, slp CAI, MSD coil and on the exact same stretch of road managed to run 14.1 @103 on the gtech. I'm just using it as a baseline and to monitor improvements - I'm not going to bother driving 2hr to the nearest track until I think I can run 13's once there.
