Q for Flowmaster American Thunder Series...

I just instlled my system and the pipe that goes over the rear axle in so large that it barely clears the braces back there. Did anyone have this problem? What were the solutions.

I don't know, but how does it sound on your car, from looking at your setup it should sound kick a** and keep getting better.

Car sounds great when the pipe isn't rattling off the crossmember. Carefull... I'd sell the whole car for $12,000 Just think, that's only $7,000 for a fully optioned '92 with 50,000mi, the T-Ram and old TPI and my newly purchased C5 wheels.

Anyway, someone answer the question. I think I'm just going to dent it like my header just enough to clear...?

Mine was tight going over and around just about everything. I don't have any problems with it hitting any crossmembers though. The one thing that I did have to do was use some stiff wire (coathanger) to tie back one of my brake lines so that it didn't melt to the pipe. It started to, but luckily I caught it before it had time to do any damage. Have you tried shifting it around by moving some of the slip fit pipes further in to tighten things up a bit more? I had to do some serious maneuvering to get mine in properly. Good Luck

Matt

Hang the whole system but don't tighten the clamps. Start tightening the clamps, starting with the cat and then the first intermediate pipe section. Then move your way back. I had the same problem with the brake line also. Once it is all tightened drive it around. Retighten the clamps after a few days. You might have to weld the first section on the intermediate pipe after the cat. Mine would blow apart every couple of miles or so.. the first time it happened i had no idea what the hell was going on.

I had the same problem on my 92 z28 convertible... had a muffler shop heat that pipe to get it away from the frame, but on any substantial size bump the rear axle travels enough to bump into the pipe. It seems that the intermediate pipe slip-fit is not on far enough...but it most definitely is! Even went so far as to have some of it welded and bent even further away from the axle but to no avail.... sadly, the flowmaster will come off. I'm gonna try the Hooker this weekend...see how that goes.
